Leah's First Week

Well, little Leah is now one week old and it has been a full week. She's already survived one trip to the germ-filled pediatrician's office, spent two hours in the car driving to and from Cambridge, made her first few web-cam appearances, went for a walk around the neighborhood, quietly attended her first Mass, met her Uncle Bowker, lost her unbilical cord on day 6 (!) and dirtied about a hundred diapers.

We are still getting to know this tiny girl, but here are a few things we can say so far: She seems to really enjoy car rides - they put her to sleep. She mostly hates getting her diaper changed - her dad wears ear plugs for the job. She likes when her daddy hums with his chin on her head. She claws at her sad little face when she cries - I hate it when she does this. She gets the hiccups after almost every meal.

On our way to Mass

I love it when she makes this little "o" with her mouth!

She doesn't do much yet, but in case you want to see her in action, here you go...

  1. She's already breaking records with the longest yawn in history. I'm getting tired just watching her. She is damn cute though. No thanks to you Joe.

  2. P.G. Wodehouse once described a friend's newborn as looking like an "old, leering, Chinese gangster." That sounds about right. Cute kid, though.
