Leah's been growing at incredible speeds (as little babies often do) and I just wanted to share some of the new talents that she's developed in the last month.
At about 7 weeks, Leah began eating her fists. She loves to suck and gnaw on her hands. She can sometimes shove her entire fist into her mouth. This is all fine and good (and creates lots of fun drool) until she opens her fist and gags on her fingers. It's a good game, though and she does it over and over again.
At about 9 weeks, the little girl rolled from her tummy to her back a few times. Granted, this was most likely an accident made possible by her excessive flailing of limbs. It was pretty cool to see, though. She looked pretty surprised when it happened.
Around week 10, Leah began to really notice her own hands. She brings her little fists up to her nose and examines them as they move, going cross-eyed in the process. It is so fun to watch her do this - you can really see her little brain working. It was cool, too, because my dad had just been talking about how amazing it is to watch little babies when they begin to become aware that the movement of this thing that they see in front of them (their hand or arm) corresponds with a specific feeling... and that they control it.
Leah loves to stand up (with help, of course. She's not that advanced.) and she loves to smile and coo - especially at Papa and her daddy. She also, sometimes, enjoys sitting on her dad's lap while he plays video games (yes, I know. Awesome.) She is just starting to reach out, grab, and play (well, "gnaw on" would be more accurate) with a few of her toys.
It's pretty incredible to watch this tiny human being wonder at the world around her
what a little sweetie.. can't wait to meet her!
