Hiccups

Seriously, she always has the hiccups.

Pretty in Pink

Hurray! Our little girl looks like a little girl! Joe and Nanny dressed up Leah in this fabulous outfit for Mass this past weekend. Ain't she sweet?!

And here's another "pink" picture. She's been wearing so much yellow and green that it's just fun to see her dressed in pink.

Leah's First Week

Well, little Leah is now one week old and it has been a full week. She's already survived one trip to the germ-filled pediatrician's office, spent two hours in the car driving to and from Cambridge, made her first few web-cam appearances, went for a walk around the neighborhood, quietly attended her first Mass, met her Uncle Bowker, lost her unbilical cord on day 6 (!) and dirtied about a hundred diapers.

We are still getting to know this tiny girl, but here are a few things we can say so far: She seems to really enjoy car rides - they put her to sleep. She mostly hates getting her diaper changed - her dad wears ear plugs for the job. She likes when her daddy hums with his chin on her head. She claws at her sad little face when she cries - I hate it when she does this. She gets the hiccups after almost every meal.

On our way to Mass

Leah loves Uncle Bowker

I love it when she makes this little "o" with her mouth!

One week old!

Ducky butt

She doesn't do much yet, but in case you want to see her in action, here you go...

Nanny's Monarch Butterfly

Well, Leah wasn't the only one to emerge from the warmth of her "cocoon" this past week ... Nanny's Monarch caterpillar finally came out as a beautiful butterfly. He's now (hopefully) on his way to Mexico.

Happy Birthday Leah

Among the generous birthday gifts were:

A Birthday Cake from Nanny (obviously yummy, since was half gone by the time this picture was taken.)

A beautiful flower arrangement and teddy bear from His Eminance, Cardinal Seán O'Malley (I told Leah she should feel special because not every newborn gets a gift from a Cardinal Archbishop)

A delicious Edible Arrangement from Uncle Bowker(yes, this isn't the actual arrangement - I started devouring the arrangement before a nice picture could be taken. oops)

Thank you everybody!!

Our little baby Bird

On November 3rd, God blessed us with the safe arrival of a beautiful, healthy baby girl, Leah Regina Bird. Our lives are forever changed. I'm in love again.

Leah was born at The Cambridge Birthing Center at 12:38am with the wonderful help of our midwives, Connie Breece and Christley Harris. She weighed in at 7 lbs. 9.9 oz. and was 19 inches long. She is the newest of the lovely troop of girl grandbabies (granddaughter #2 on the White side and granddaughter #5 on the Bird side). Here are a few of our first pictures of Leah.

This picture isn't very clear, but it's of little naked Leah on the wieght scale - 7lbs 9.9oz!

Doesn't she look like a pea pod or something!?! So snug!
