She looks like this a lot these days

Any article of clothing that she can get her hands on (be it mine, hers, or Joe's) goes on her head.  Who knew the shorts you wore yesterday could be so fun?

For to remember:

Today, I just want to jot down a few things.  I feel like Leah's growth has suddenly lept into hyperdrive (or warp drive or whatever science-fiction term you prefer) in the last month or two.  Maybe it's because I am paying more attention to it with the new baby's approaching due date and all, but I'm finding myself constantly amazed at how quickly my sweet little baby is growing up.
So Leah, here are some things I don't want to forget:

1. The other evening when we were sitting down to dinner and you carried your baby doll over to the couch, set her down, covered her face with a cloth and told us, "Shhhhh!  Nigh-night. Shhhhh."  You continued to shush us and point at your sleeping doll during the meal.

2. That instead of saying book, you say boop.

3. The way you point and say, "uh oh, uh oh, uh oh" whenever someone dives under the water.

4. You sometimes pretend to eat daddy's toes just like he pretends to nibble on yours.

5. The way you try to climb on anything and everything and how you usually succeed.

6. The day you were looking at pictures of your aunts, uncles and grandparents with me on the computer (which you love to do) and you suddenly got sad and frustrated.  You hopped off of my lap, ran to the door and wanted to go see all those people.  You really missed them.

7. The way you fall asleep with daddy and the way you feel his face and shoulders as you drift off to sleep with him.

8. You have started to use words (or your versions of words) so much more and are constantly naming things that you see or hear.  I love it when you randomly point at me and say, "Mama."

9.  The way you say, "Ohhhh wooooowwww" when something impresses you.

I love you little Leah and oh, how I enjoy you.

New Title

Well, since it has been six months since we've moved out of the third floor, I figured it was about time for a title change for the "Third Floor Birds" blog.  I'm testing out this new one.  Maybe we'll keep it.  Maybe we won't.

Some things we've been excited about lately

The POOL!
Fresh herbs!
Tequila shots and Ryan Reedy!

Happy Easter!

Christ is Risen!  Alleluia!!

I failed to get a nice family photo and I just have a few snapshots to share, but it really was a beautiful, busy Easter weekend!

Saturday Egg Dying:

Easter morning after Mass.  An EGG!!

We enjoyed a delicious dinner and a relaxing evening with the Jon Birds, Bess and Jacob, Meg, and Mara.
Meg, the baby charmer!
Books with Bess

The utterly fantastic and lovely Grapefruit Cake that Bess made for dessert!

Visiting the North

Leah and I headed up to Wisconsin for a last minute trip at the tail end of March.  My best friend from high school was having a bridal shower and, since (due to baby #2's due date) I will not be able to make it to her July 2nd wedding, I decided to take a nice long weekend trip to Wisconsin!

It was great to spend some time with my family and I know they were pretty excited to get their hands on Leah.  (It had been about 5 months since they'd seen her in person!)

During this trip, I really realized how much Leah loves going outside...no matter the weather.  Luckily, she has very kind Aunts that agree to take her out into the drizzly cold.  Thanks to Katie and Molly, Leah really got to experience early spring in Wisconsin...and the joys of hot chocolate! Mmmmmm!

My Mom insisted on celebrating my birthday (which is in May) while we were in town.  I did not protest.  I thoroughly enjoyed the delicious steak, mushroom and mashed potato dinner that Dad made and the scrumptious strawberry glazed pie baked by Mom (complete with homemade crust and freshly whipped cream).  Seriously good.

I think Leah liked the homemade whipped cream the best

Just silliness with Aunt Molly!

Leah got to play with her great-grandpa's beautiful old toy phone.  She was slightly confused by the cord.

I was thrilled to get to spend some quality time with my one and only KP.  Leah loved it as well.  Thank you Katie for taking Friday off to come hang out with us!!!  I miss you!

The real reason for the trip:
Stef and Andrew - Aren't they cute!?!
Slinger Girls!!

It was so much fun to see all these ladies.  I wish we would have had more time to hang out and catch up!  I was also thrilled to finally meet Mr. Andrew.  Stefanie is one of the most wonderful, special girls I have ever met and I miss her so!  I will be thinking of you and Andrew on July 2nd!  Happy Wedding to you!!

Another highlight of the trip was getting to see Joe, Katharine and Maureen.

... And celebrating Joe's birthday (he's old).  The Dooley's came over and the Smillies flew in from Massachusetts for the occasion (j/k, j/k - they were actually in town for my Grandmother's 87th birthday.  Sorry Joe.)

At the height of the Happy Birthday song and parade

Gotta love Fleet Farm mixed nuts!

Grandpa Mike spent some time with Leah teaching her how to cut up these velcro fruits and veggies.  She is obsessed.  She got to bring home a set of her own and she practices daily.

Thank you everyone for the lovely visit.  We miss you all terribly and can't wait to see you in August!
